Stock plan:

A retail store occasionally runs out of certain items. This happens for a number of reasons: unexpected popularity of a particular item, such as one that has attained fad appeal among schoolchildren; an unusually large purchase, such as buying up all of a store’s hotdog buns for a party; or a failure by the manufacturer to make and ship on time certain items. Stock control is a way the retailer avoids running out of stock through tracking what is on hand, what has been sold and what is on order & of course it makes an inventory easier.

The retail inventory consists of what products are on the store shelves plus the products in boxes in the storage room. As customers deplete the stocked shelves, more stock comes out of storage to replace what has been sold. Keeping track of the inventory on hand allows the store owner or manager to know when to order additional stock of the items before they sell out.

This will be more effective for the management team to control any shipment & for the staff to know what they have.

Visual Merchandising:

 Visual merchandising is a profession that involves displaying merchandise in a store in a way that elicits a positive image of the store, gets customers’ attention and entices them to buy. Visual merchandising starts on the outside of the store or its exterior presentation and carries on to the interior presentation. It may involve the ability to create window displays in fashionable colors and patterns that make customers think the store has what they’re looking for and the art of creating other types of displays or dressing mannequins. Keeping up with trends and fashions in the design industry can be useful for these purposes. Visual merchandising also includes determining in-store traffic flow patterns to calculate the best places to put displays so the greatest number of people will see them.

To apply this, we have 5 elements of VM:

Customer service skills in stores mainly involve knowing how to read a shopper quickly & accurately, turning general browsers into true shoppers helps a shop boost profits and build a return customer base, as well as being ready to help the customer find what they need, will help the store reputation grow in a positive light.

We have 4 ways to do perfect customer service:

Show the available merchandise

For instance, shoppers want to see the options available but often don’t trust their own judgment on what is nice or in style, find items that are similar to what the shopper is currently wearing in style, price & color, give the customer several sample to try on, showing a customer, a price increases the odds that the piece well sell.

Make a suggestion

Gauge your customers style and taste and make suggestions regarding places that will flatter the wearer, taller, slimmer shoppers will look better in certain pieces than shorter, curvier ones and vice versa, guide your shoppers to pieces that will make them look bet by telling them which pieces are particularly flattering to their body style or coloring or hair style.

Be honest but flattering

If a piece is too small or too large, tell the customer this, but do so very gently and tactfully, mention that It looks too tight or too long in the shoulders,

Always blame the item for it not fitting right, never the customer body shape.

Offer to assist

The moment a customer walks into your shop offer to assist her, greeting – say something along the lines of (may I help you find something today) this for example.

Customer Data Management (CDM) is a solution mechanism in which an organization’s customer data is collected, managed and analyzed. CDM is geared toward resolving customer requirements and issues while enhancing customer retention and satisfaction, allowing an organization to convert customer data into Customer Intelligence.

  • Categorization: Customer data is classified and sub-classified.
  • Correction: Collected data is verified for accuracy and consistency. When necessary, contact details are updated, and duplicate records are removed.
  • Enrichment: Incomplete data is collected and completed.
  • Collection: Customer data and insight activity is collected via a customer feedback system or sources, like sales, customer support, surveys, reports, newsletters and other customer interactions.
  • Organization: Customer data is organized and shared throughout an organization.

The most important purpose that a promotion serves is that it sets a business apart from its competitors. No business will ever need to run any promotions if there wasn’t any competition. You have to stay ahead of your competitors in order for customers to keep doing business with you.
